'Queen Fabiola' flowers in very late spring (June) and lasts for 2-3 weeks. Plants are 15-20 inches tall.


B. General Characteristics

1. Origin of species: Northern California
2. Common names: Brodiaea, Long Rayed Triteleia, Pretty Face, Grass, Triplet Lily, Wild Hyacinth
3. Geophyte organ: Corm
4. Hardiness type: Hardy I - Injured at temperatures below 23 degrees F (-5C) when planted.
5. Natural reproductive systems and growth and development requirements: Reproduces by seed and cormlets and requires a warm (63 to 68F) - cool (28 to 40F) - warm (63 to 68) annual thermoperiodic cycle.
6. Primary uses: Beds, rock gardens, and fresh cut flowers.


C. Cultural Information

1. Bulb sizes: 4/5, 5/6, 6/up cm, in circumference.
2. Planting density: 4 inches apart, 9-10 per sq. ft.
3. Planting depth: 5 inches to base of the corm.
4. Planting time: Fall
5. Perennialization habit: 1990 USDA Climatic Zones 5 to 6 with mulch, Zones 7 to 8 without mulch.
6. Light requirements: Full sunlight, PM sunlight only, AM sunlight only.
7. Moisture: Tolerates summer drought. Keep moist during growing season.
8. Animal susceptibility: Not reported.
