Crocosmia flowers in mid-summer (July) for 3-4 weeks. Plants are 35-40 inches tall.


B. General Characteristics
1. Origin of species: South Africa
2. Common names: Coppertip, Falling Stars
3. Geophyte organ: Tunicated Corm
4. Hardiness type: Semi-Hardy - Injured at temperatures below 28 degrees F (-2C) when planted.
5. Natural reproductive systems and growth and development requirements: Reproduces by cormlets and requires a warm (60 to 75F) - cool (35 to 45F) - warm (60 to 75F) annual thermoperiodic cycle.
6. Primary uses: Beds, borders, and fresh cut flowers.

1. Bulb sizes: 6/up cm, in circumference.
2. Planting density: 2 inches apart, 20 per sq. ft.
3. Planting depth: 5 inches to base of corm.
4. Planting time: Spring
5. Perennialization habit: 1990 USDA Climatic Zones 6 to 7 with mulch, 8 to 10 without mulch.
6. Light requirements: Full sunlight to PM only sunlight.
7. Moisture: Tolerates drought, but keep moist during growing season.
8. Animal susceptibility: None Found
