A refreshing and metaphysical
approach to gardening would be to let nature take
its own course. Imagine a garden where old and
graceful trees, flowering shrubs, succulents,
climbing vines, seasonal and perennial flowers,
weeds, mushrooms, grass and moss, all grow in
unplanned harmony. Apart from the temptation of
little or no work involved in this kind of garden,
a certain air of mystery clings to this option.
Native soil always
supports good growth of native plants and with
a small amount of trimming; a natural garden can
put up some wonderful sights. Winding paths that
lead to exciting rock niches, a stream or a water
channel running at will, bright and gay creepers
such as Wild rose or Morning Glory tumbling off
patio roofs or sheds all invite adventurous walks.
Discovering a new flower or a wild berry is almost
magical simply because it is nature's surprise
gift.
Natural pollination is very successful in this
kind of a garden. Multiplication of flowering
plants saves expense and one can transplant the
new, tiny plants elsewhere. Garden furniture can
be antique or functional with additional artifacts
to match. Let nature be your garden planner; it
will spare you the painful chores of trimming,
weeding and replanting, and give you more time
to enjoy its unplanned wonders.
