How to Develop an Enchanting English Garden

In fabricating a home it is important to pay attention to both the interiors and the exteriors - namely the garden. Indeed, the garden is a space that possesses immense tranquility and allows you to forge a deeper bond with nature.

This article focuses on how to transform your existing backyard into one that catered to the needs of the entire family. Do you have visions of a rustic English garden, which would provide spaces that would be charming and private and still would be fun-filled for the children? Below are the steps you need to take to turn your backyard into an enjoyable retreat for the whole family.

Our professional landscape designer's vision of demarcating two functional areas; one area that would appeal to the adults, and the other would encompass the needs of the children. A bare area was constructed and provisions for a patio, an arbor, a table and a fountain were made. This is the side that features relative quiet and privacy; a perfect place for the adults to unwind. One side of the garden is further adorned with iron furniture and flowering plants. Rose bushes, cosmos, butterfly bush, hydrangea and lavender are some of the plants which now find their home in this totally redesigned backyard.

Provisions were also made for an outdoor classroom, complete with a hanging chalkboard, brightly colored furniture and other paraphernalia. This area once outfitted with aromatic candles and wispy curtains also doubles over as a romantic getaway for the couple.

Moving away from the seating / learning area, provisions for a swing set and slides were made. Designer, Tom Stout, also designed a jungle gym, using the stumps in the garden - and thereby truly lending meaning to the 'jungle' gym!

Finally, the sides of the backyard were outlined with some fencing and plywood panels so as to ensure absolute privacy. So now you to know how to be blessed with a beautiful garden that serves many purposes, and one that is no longer monotonous and unkempt, but one that has a charming personality of its own.
